The client required a custom, large, thin-walled ring component made of aluminum alloy and planned to produce a small batch of samples for design validation.
The CEX engineering team evaluated the component’s structure and determined that the current thin-wall design was unsuitable for sand casting.
Given the component’s large size, metal 3D printing would have been too costly.
Furthermore, considering the small sample quantity, stamping was not suitable for this project.
Several conventional manufacturing methods were therefore not suitable for the part.
Following further discussions, it was decided to manufacture the part using 1060 aluminum alloy sheet through metal spinning.
As metal spinning is not a standard in-house process for CEX Casting, CEX Casting identified a supplier with the necessary production capabilities based on the project requirements.
CEX Casting then managed the order coordination, production progress communication, and ongoing project follow-up.
The samples have now been successfully produced and passed inspection.
CEX Casting has a professional engineering team that, upon receiving technical drawings, can analyze manufacturing challenges based on component structure, materials, and project requirements, assess manufacturability, and assist clients in determining a suitable manufacturing method.
