CEX Casting completed the production of a batch of prototype aluminum castings and, as requested by the customer, provided A356-T6 test bars per ASTM E8 for subsequent tensile testing.
The customer approached CEX Casting with a request for a small quantity of A356-T6 prototype castings for project validation and a short delivery lead time.
Based on the project requirements, the CEX Casting engineering team proposed a solution using 3D-printed patterns to create sand molds.
This approach reduces the upfront tooling costs associated with traditional permanent metal molds and significantly shortens the production cycle, making it more suitable for prototype development and low-volume production.
Since the customer also required test bars for material tensile property evaluation, CEX Casting provided two additional test bars free of charge to support the customer’s project validation.
After confirming the required test bar dimensions with the customer, CEX Casting cast the prototype components and the A356-T6 test bars together.
The test bars were provided for subsequent tensile testing in accordance with ASTM E8.
After the products passed quality inspection, CEX Casting selected wooden crates for shipment and carefully protected the products to reduce the risk of damage during transit, ensuring they arrived intact when the customer received them.
This collaboration demonstrates how rapid sand casting can provide an efficient production solution for early-stage product validation.
CEX Casting can flexibly tailor production methods to different project stages, production volumes, and delivery requirements.
Beyond the main production requirements, we work closely with customers to address additional needs that may arise during the project and do our best to provide practical solutions.
