The Advantages of Squeeze Casting Compared to Die Casting
Squeeze casting is a more advanced process than conventional aluminum die casting.
The squeeze casting process can eliminate defects that exist in the traditional die casting process such as porosity and shrinkage, and the internal structure of the casting is more dense. Heat treatment and welding is acceptable.
Better Mechanical Properties: the strength of the heat-treated squeeze castings is significantly higher and can reach strengths close to those of forged aluminum parts.
Better Sealing Performance: because of the presence of pores is eliminated, the surface of the squeeze castings can be machined to a very high finish, free of pore defects, thus ensuring excellent sealing performance without causing leaks.
Can Be Welded: conventional aluminum die castings often contain microscopic pores and voids within the material. these porosity can act as potential weak points and can lead to defects and reduce weld integrity. Squeeze casting parts without pores can avoid this problem.
The Advantages of Squeeze Casting Compared to Forging
Squeeze casting is also called liquid die forging, but the feeding method and forming process are very different from forging. Compared with the conventional forging process, squeeze casting has many advantages over forging and can be used as an alternative to forging to obtain high strength aluminum parts.
Close Mechanical Properties: after heat treatment, squeeze casting parts can achieve high mechanical strength, close to the strength of aluminum alloy forging.
Better Forming Ability: better forming capability. Squeeze casting can form complex structures in one piece as well as conventional die casting in terms of forming capability. Compared to forging, the workload of secondary processing can be greatly reduced. There are many products with complex structures that cannot be produced by forging and secondary processing. For such high strength and complex structure products, squeeze casting can be used.
Lower Costs: squeeze casting can significantly reduce the production cost of aluminum parts because it greatly reduces the amount of secondary processing. It has a very obvious unit price advantage.

The Advantages of Squeeze Casting Compared to Sand Casting
Enhanced Mechanical Properties: squeeze casting combines the benefits of both casting and forging processes, resulting in improved mechanical properties compared to traditional sand casting. The controlled solidification under pressure leads to finer grain structure, increased strength, and improved fatigue resistance.
Near-Net Shape: squeeze casting allows for the production of near-net shape components, reducing the need for extensive machining and material waste. This results in cost savings and improved material utilization.
Forming Capabilities: the squeeze casting process enables the production of complex shapes with intricate details and thin walls, resulting in superior forming capabilities and higher-quality castings compared to sand casting.
High Production Efficiency: squeeze casting is a highly efficient process as it combines the casting and forging steps, reducing the overall production time and cost.
Good Surface Finish: the controlled solidification in squeeze casting helps in achieving a smoother surface finish, reducing the need for additional surface treatments or finishing operations.
Our Developed High Strength Aluminum Castings
CEX Casting is a China leading squeeze casting manufacturer. Our squeeze casting service helped many companies to improve the mechanical properties of different parts. Those squeeze cast products have better mechanical characteristics than conventional castings because of their higher density, finer scale of grain and, more uinform micro structure.

Squeeze Casting Process Characteristics: Eliminating Porosity, Improving Mechanical Properties
Because of the specially designed tooling and process parameter, porosities caused by both gas and shrinkage can be prevented or eliminated in the squeeze casting process.
The cooling rate of the casting can be increased by applying high pressure during solidification, the contact between the casting and the die is improved by pressurization, which results in fine-grained structures.
The biggest advantage of squeeze casting process is that the castings could be heat treated to achieve improved mechanical properties.
After T6 heat treatment, the mechanical property of the squeeze casting parts could be much higher.
What Is Squeeze Casting
Squeeze casting, also known as liquid die forging, is types of casting process in which molten metal solidifies under pressure within closed dies positioned between the plates of a hydraulic press.
The pressure applied and the instant contact of the molten metal with the die surfaces produces a rapid heat transfer, which yields a pore-free, fine-grained casting with mechanical properties similar to those of a wrought product.
The squeeze die casting process is easily automated to produce near-net to net shaped, high-quality casting products.
Types of Squeeze Die Casting
There are two types of squeeze casting processes: direct squeeze casting and indirect squeeze casting. The difference between the two types is how the high pressure applied to the molten metal.
Direct Squeeze Casting
Direct squeeze casting is a process in which the molten metal is poured directly into the mould cavity and pressure is introduced when the top punch is lowered into the bottom die.
This process is much like forging and that is why squeeze casting is also called liquid forging.

Indirect Squeeze Casting
Indirect squeeze casting is a process in which the molten metal is injected into the cavity from a plunger.
The pressure is applied by the plunger in the indirect squeeze casting.
